About HomeWagger
What is HomeWagger?
HomeWagger is the UK’s first ethical dog rehoming platform, designed to help dogs find safe, loving homes through a community-led, non-commercial approach. We connect adopters, rehomers, and shelters in one trusted space.
Is HomeWagger a charity?
HomeWagger operates as a hybrid social enterprise. Our CIC (Community Interest Company) is responsible for the mission of ethical rehoming, and a separate tech company manages the app and platform tools that power the service.
Is HomeWagger just for dogs?
Right now we’re focused on dogs, so we can do one thing really well. In future, we may explore support for other companion animals, but dogs come first.
For Adopters
How do I adopt a dog through HomeWagger?
You’ll start by creating an adopter profile and setting your preferences — things like dog size, energy level, and home setup. You can then browse dogs in need of homes and, when you find a good match, express your interest directly from the app.
Do I need to pay to adopt a dog?
HomeWagger doesn’t charge adoption fees. Some shelters or rescues may request an adoption donation or fee, but profit is never the motive — it’s to support the dog’s care and ongoing welfare.
Can I save dogs I like?
Yes. You can favourite dogs and revisit them later from your dashboard, so you don’t lose track of potential matches.
Will I still be vetted before I adopt?
Absolutely. Shelters and rehomers keep full control over who adopts. Your profile simply helps them see whether you might be a good fit before they move forward with applications, checks, and home visits.
For Rehomers
Can individuals list dogs for rehoming?
Yes. Anyone with a genuine need can create a profile and list their dog, as long as it aligns with our ethical rehoming standards and isn’t for breeding or profit.
Are listings reviewed before going live?
Yes. Every listing is reviewed to ensure it’s safe, compassionate, and follows our guidelines. We do not allow breeder listings, sales, or anything that puts dogs at risk.
Can I choose who adopts my dog?
Yes. You stay in control. HomeWagger helps you reach suitable adopters and organise applications, but the final decision is always yours (or your rescue’s).
For Shelters & Rescues
Can our shelter use HomeWagger?
Absolutely. Shelters can create profiles, list dogs, manage enquiries, and connect with pre-vetted adopters. We’re building tools specifically with busy rescues in mind.
What is HomeWagger Pro?
HomeWagger Pro is a premium toolkit for shelters and rescues. It includes advanced listing features, internal vetting tools, analytics, branded profiles, and early access to new features.
Is there a cost for shelters?
Core features are free. Pro plans are optional and designed to be affordable for grassroots and volunteer-run rescues, with any revenue reinvested into improving the platform.

Is HomeWagger free to use?
Yes. Core features for adopters and rehomers are free. Shelters can choose to upgrade to a Pro plan to unlock extra tools and insights.
Is HomeWagger available across the UK?
Yes. HomeWagger is UK-focused and open to adopters, rehomers, and shelters nationwide. Some features may roll out region-by-region as we grow.
How is this different from a pet marketplace?
HomeWagger is not a pet marketplace. There are no animal sales, bidding, or pay-to-list upgrades. No pressure, no impulse buys — just a movement of good people doing right by dogs, with all listings guided by welfare and community standards.
